Disabled Persons Action Organization is now hiring for the position of Assistant Respite House Coordinator.
This position requires working direct-care as well as carrying out administrative duties.
The days/hours required for the position will vary based on the needs of the program and will include day shifts, evening shifts and overnight shifts.
The prospective employee will work between 35 and 40 hours per week.
The rate of pay is $17.
00 hourly, with a shift differential of $0.
50 for any overnight hours worked.
After the successful completion of a 90-day introductory period, benefits and paid time off will be available.

Listed below is a brief description of the position as well as responsibilities and requirements.
*Summary Description: *Under the direction of the Free Standing Respite Coordinator; will ensure proper care for all individuals, and provide a safe and nurturing environment by treating all consumers as individuals and meeting their individual needs and wants.
The Assistant Coordinator will also assist with planning and executing any/all activities set forth by the Coordinator and will ensure that established goals and objectives are accomplished in accordance with prescribed priorities, time and funding limitations.
*Exemplary Duties/Responsibilities:*
* Assists the Coordinator in preparing monthly reports of program activities.
* Prepares reports, records, charts and files documents as required.
* Is flexible to the needs of the agency, the individuals, and the families you serve.
* Flexible as far as scheduling: days, evening, weekends.
* When working as direct care staff, assist with meals and ADL skills.
* Clean and organize all areas that were used during program hours according to agency procedures
* Assists the Coordinator in developing a staffing plan and establishing a work plan and schedules for each stage of the program.
* Assign, monitor and evaluate the work of program staff.
* Will assume the duties of the Coordinator when he/she is absent from program.
* Will shop for program required items, house supplies and will maintain inventory.
* In the absence of the Coordinator, will carry the FSR agency cell phone and be on-call as needed.
* Will assist in the formulation of goals and objectives and will exercise independent judgment in the course of carrying out overall responsibilities.
*Required Experience, Education and Training:*
* Prospective employees must possess a high school diploma or equivalency, with (preferably) two (2) years of experience with the developmentally disabled or similar field.
* Knowledge: Principles and practices or supervision of developmentally disabled children and adults.
* Skill: Interpersonal communications, verbally and in writing, with a diverse range of people, including the proper handling of emotional situations; effectively taking direction from the Program Supervisor/Program Coordinator; effectively using time and resources to accomplish program goals; analyzing and independently solving problems in a variety of moderately difficult situations and problems in an appropriate manner.
* License: Possession of a valid New York State motor vehicle operator's license.
Reliable transportation to and from work.
* Physically able to work direct-care.
