Job Description
Job Title: Registered Nurse - Oncology
Job Summary:
The Registered Nurse - Oncology will be responsible for providing direct patient care, administering chemotherapy treatments, monitoring patient progress, collaborating with a multidisciplinary team, educating patients and their families about cancer treatments and symptom management, and providing emotional support to patients throughout their cancer journey.
Responsibilities and Duties:
- Administer chemotherapy and other cancer treatments as prescribed by the oncologist
- Monitor patient vital signs, symptoms, and side effects of treatments
- Collaborate with physicians, oncologists, and other healthcare professionals to develop individualized treatment plans
- Educate patients and their families about cancer treatments, medication management, and symptom control
- Provide emotional support to patients and families coping with a cancer diagnosis
- Document patient care and treatment plans accurately and timely
- Maintain a safe and clean work environment
- Participate in ongoing training and professional development opportunities
Qualifications and Skills:
- Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of practice
- Bachelor's degree in Nursing (BSN) preferred
- Certification in Oncology Nursing (OCN) preferred
- Minimum of 2 years of experience working in oncology or infusion therapy
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced and high-stress environment
- Compassionate and empathetic towards patients and their families
- Strong critical thinking and problem-solving abilities
- Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team
