*Job Description*
*Job Title:* Staff Accountant
*Department:* Accounting/Finance
*Reports To:* Chief Financial Officer
*FLSA Status:* Non-Exempt
*Summary:* To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
The candidate will be a self-motivated individual capable of working independently and as part of a team to meet deadlines, and who works well under pressure.
High-level analytical and communication skills are a must.
*Duties and Responsibilities* include the following.
Other duties may be assigned.
* Prepares financial statements and board reports pertaining to the corporate and mutual holding company activities, including interest rate risk management, and cash management.
* Prepares and reconciles financial institution balances of investments, accrued interest and borrowings to the general ledger.
* Participates in the month end closing process which may include journal entries, account reconciliations and balancing of certain accounts.
* Review invoices for correctness and appropriateness.
* Prepares corporate and mutual holding company activities, including cash management, journal entries, general ledger, accounts payable and general ledger reconciliation.
* Reviews the FDIC Call report, NYS Sales Tax reports and other state and federal reports as needed.
* Communicates with external auditors and regulatory agencies as required, including assisting others with account research and audits as necessary.
* Assists with the annual budget, profit forecasts, and operational changes as needed.
* Acts as the back-up for departmental staff’s daily duties as required.
* Assists CFO with special projects as necessary.
* Performs other duties as assigned and directed by management.

*Computer Skills:* To perform this job successfully, an individual should have solid working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel and internet software.
*Education/Experience:* Bachelor’s degree (B.
S.
) in Accounting from four-year college or university; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
*Specialized Training:* Completion of in-house training at the financial institution.
